TENSES OF ENGLISH

PRESENT TENSES

  • Present Continues tense (Anna is reading a book at the moment)
  • Simple Present Tense ( George plays in the Garden everyday)
  • Present Perfect Tense (She has been in Europe three times so far)
  • Present Perfect Continues Tense ( Micheal has been working for three years in that factory)

 

PAST TENSES

  • Past Continues Tense (She was preparing for her exams)
  • Simple Past Tense (Maria jumped from the stairs)
  • Past Perfect tense   They had played football before the rain began)
  • Past Perfect Continues Tense ( We had been writing in the library, before the principal came in)

 

FUTURE TENSES

  • Simple Future Tenses

–will ( I will help you)-unplanned future–
–Going to (She is going to write a thesis)–planned future–

  • Future Continues Tense (We will be swimming in Alanya next summer)
  • Future Perfect Tense (Sue will have finished her homework before the weekend)
